“Stay and keep watch with me.”
Eucharistic Adoration is the act of worshiping God as He is present in the Blessed Sacrament.
All Catholics are encouraged to spend time with Jesus Christ in Adoration: to give thanks and praise, to pray for special intentions, to lay our burdens at His feet, or to sit quietly and just rest in His presence.
Contemplation [of the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration] prolongs Communion and enables one to meet Jesus Christ in a lasting way, to let oneself be seen by him and to experience his presence. When we contemplate him present in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar, Christ draws near to us and becomes more intimate to us than we are to ourselves. He grants us a share in his divine life in a transforming union and, in the Spirit, He gives us access to the Father, as He himself said to Philip: “He who has seen me has seen the Father” (Jn. 14:9). … Remaining in silence before the Blessed Sacrament, it is Christ totally and really present whom we discover, whom we adore and with whom we are in contact. – Saint John Paul II
Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship Jesus. The specific way that Jesus asks you to love Him in return is to spend one quiet hour with Him in the Blessed Sacrament. The Adoration Chapel is open to scheduled adorers as well as visitors during the Adoration times.
Call Roxana Lambdin at 714-713-7932 or Carmelo Servin (Spanish) at 830-377-2530 if you would like to commit a hour of time before the Blessed Sacrament.
No! You can choose between a one-time-only commitment or a commitment that recurs weekly.
Yes! Anyone is welcome to come and adore our Lord, Jesus Christ in the Eucharist any time that the chapel is open. However, it does help us when we have people who are designated as a “committed adorer” for each hour of the day. We cannot leave the Blessed Sacrament unattended, therefore committed adorers are vital for the operation of the Adoration Chapel. Your commitment allows the Chapel to be open so that others can come and pray.
We Adore Him, our Adoration scheduling software, has a substitute request function. This makes it easy for users to get substitutes when necessary! In addition, our preference is to have two committed adorers for each hour. This means that you have an adoration partner who you can reach out to if you know you can’t make it. If your partner can be there, you’re all set!
The Adoration Chapel is locked during the overnight hours. A passcode is required to enter the chapel at that time. In addition, the chapel is equipped with indoor and outdoor security cameras.
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage you to pray in our chapel!
Adorers are encouraged to make a one-time commitment anytime! You can log into the website and click on any open spot to commit for just that hour. Also, we encourage you to consider making a group commitment! Are you involved in a ministry or a small group? Consider committing as a team–if you have five people in your small group, the group would commit to the weekly hour, but each person would only go once every five weeks. (If you need help with the logistics of this in our system, let us know!)
Of course! Here at Notre Dame, we want to encourage the development of Eucharistic families. You should feel comfortable bringing your children, even if they have a hard time sitting quietly. If you have small children, consider starting out with short visits. All adorers should be aware of the fact that we welcome families in our Adoration Chapel, even if that means it’s a little noisier. (If you desire a very quiet hour, consider coming in the evening or overnight hours when kids are likely in bed.)
Go to www.notredame.weadorehim.com to see all available hours and to sign up! There is a tutorial video available on this page for those needing a video walkthrough of the system. You can also sign up via the iPad kiosk in the Adoration Chapel. Sign in as a guest and check the box for more information on how to become a committed adorer. Please be sure to include your contact information.
