Music Ministry proclaims and shares in sung prayer the Catholic faith that we profess. All members of the parish community are invited to share the gifts of music with the assembly gathered for weekend liturgies and other special services. The time commitment is weekly rehearsals (see below) plus approximately 30-45 minute warm ups before the scheduled Mass.
Singers should be able to sing on pitch. No music reading ability is necessary.
Instrumentalists should be proficient with their instrument to the extent of being able to accompany singers.
Notre Dame Choirs
Joyful Noise – ministers at the 5 p.m. Saturday, 7:45 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday; this choir’s music is eclectic, drawing from traditional as well as contemporary music. They also sing for special occasions such as the Christmas Walk and the RCIA Mystagogia Mass.
The Coro – ministers at the Sunday 9:15 Mass as well as Spanish funerals; this choir’s music is primarily Spanish.
A New Song – ministers at the Sunday 5 p.m. Mass; their music is primarily contemporary, drawing from the resources of Life Teen.
Resurrection Choir – ministers at English funeral Masses.
There are occasions when all the choirs sing and play together, such as Confirmation, and Deanery and Archdiocesan events that occur here.
