Quinceñera, meaning "one who is fifteen", is the custom among many Hispanics in the United States and Spanish-speaking countries of celebrating a young girl's pasage from childhood to adolescence. The ritual involves the young girl, her family and friends expressing thanks to God for the gift of life and asking for a blessing for her years ahead. The celebration may take place within Mass or outside of Mass.
